Why Did I Start Tucan?
Our Story: A Journey of Healing and Purpose
Before 2011 – A Diagnosis That Changed Everything
I grew up in a country known for its olive oil, Tunisia, and I never imagined my life would take a drastic turn. In my mid-20s, after moving to Canada, I was diagnosed with a brain malformation. What followed was years of surgeries, CT scans, MRIs, countless doctor visits, and seizures. I was told I would need pharmaceutical medications for the rest of my life.
2011 – The Birth of Tucan
Despite my health challenges, I started Tucan in 2011 with the simple idea of sharing quality food. At the time, I didn’t fully understand the role nutrition would play in my own healing.
2017 – A Turning Point
Everything changed when I met Emmy—now my wife—a lifelong Montessori Educator and a certified Holistic Nutritionist. She transformed our kitchen into a sanctuary of whole-food healing, opening my eyes to a new path. This was the beginning of my journey toward becoming medication-free.
2021 – The Rebirth of Tucan Holistic
Inspired by my own journey, I rebranded Tucan with a new mission: to share the healing power of clean, honest food. Everything we create is a reflection of what helped me—ingredients with purpose, free from unnecessary ingredients.
September 2023 – A New Beginning
I did it. I became medication-free. The journey wasn’t just about getting off the pills—it was about reclaiming my life, my confidence, and my future.
2024 – A Commitment to Regenerative Farming
With a deeper appreciation for food and its impact, Emmy and I began learning regenerative farming. We welcomed Meng Karbach, a regenerative farmer, Product Developer, and Chef, to the Tucan Holistic team to help bring even more sustainable, locally sourced products to life.
Giving Back: The Future Regenerative Wellness Hub
True health starts with real food and sustainable practices. That’s why we’re working to create a Regenerative Wellness Hub to:
Restore soil health for nutrient-rich foods
Support local farmers in sustainable agriculture
Make real food accessible to our community
Educate and empower holistic wellness
By connecting food, farming, and wellness, this hub will be a place of healing—from the earth to the body.

We cultivate our organic garlic on a certified regenerative farm in Niagara, Ontario, Canada.
Our signature product, black garlic, is meticulously crafted in our public health-inspected facility.
While some clinical studies mention that black garlic possesses antioxidant properties compared to fresh garlic and could potentially serve as a potent ally in combating inflammation in the body without resorting to chemical medications, it's essential to note that further research is needed to understand its potential health benefits fully.
